* When you're making that pie crust (why yes, I do! don't you? [smirk~smirk]), never, never, never use lentils and green split peas as pie weights. Never. You've been warned. Just let that pretty thing bubble up. The atmosphere got really ugly for about 20 minutes in the kitchen after that brilliant idea.
* When your husband goes to the post office to get the stamps you requested, buys those manly Purple Heart forevers and masculine American flag forevers and then also buys those pretty floweredy ones because he's thinking of you and knows you really like those fru-fru, girly stamps: thank God for that man, and thank that man. And realize yet again how blessed you are.
* It might take a good 10 minutes for your 10-year-old son to light a firecracker with a cigarette lighter, but you shouldn't rush him. And for Heaven's sake, don't laugh when he exclaims with exasperation: "Well! I don't smoke!! (duh) So how'm I supposed to know how to use this thing??"
* Roasted Peaches & Cream Pie is one of the best ideas God ever gave anybody. Even with a split pea or two embedded in the crust...
