Day 22

So thankful for...

Sad to say, but just glad this day is over. Thankful for a husband who can keep his cool, intervene, bring wisdom to bear on a situation. That even though some really grievous & dark things happen, God IS, and He is accomplishing His work. With that in my thoughts, I have the hope of being able to lay my head on the pillow, give it up, and sleep.

I am really thankful to have some of my Christmas stuff up. It's slow going around here right now.

Thankful for a husband who has the patience to find the perfect tree. He got a brand-new-right-off-the-truck fresh one at Home Depot tonight. It's huge. So big, in fact, that he's leaving it outside til tomorrow because it's going to take a lot of trimming.

Can't wait to get the ornaments out. We don't have a "themed" tree or one that would make it on the pages of Southern Living (shocking, I know...). Our tree is loaded with memories. White doves and red bows that my parents put on their first tree (the doves are moldy in places & have some feathers and eyeballs missing, but hey...). Pretzel ornaments my Aunt Tookie made in the '70s. Ornaments from when we got married and when the babies started coming. Toilet-paper-tube fashioned angels and candy canes made out of beads. Ornaments that need re-gluing every year. Ornaments with meaning. We put Johnny Mathis on, pull out the egg nog, and decorate as a family. It's always a great evening.

Now, that's a better way to end a post, isn't it?
